The texture created by Büyükada's social, natural and human-made phenomena has been conceived as a pattern that focuses on the Phaeton Square. External and internal transportation routes intersect at the square marking it as a virtual node. The square, where locals and visitors use it frequently as a part of their daily life, evokes essential issues such as animal rights, occupation of social space and ecology. Making decisions about the square and its surroundings by examining the island's nature, life, and memory is necessary to create a sustainable and cohesive design.
